The Train for Success Pharmacy Technician Program is an opportunity for eligible candidates to earn a Pharmacy Technician Certificate through a comprehensive training program facilitated by FlexStaff (Northwell’s staffing division) in partnership with Northwell Health.
If accepted for the program, training includes both online and on-site, in-person training. The program is approximately 420 hours (12-15 weeks) in length and will be scheduled individually with the program coordinator. On-site training consists of simulations and experiential training and will be paid at an hourly rate of $22.00. You will rotate among the different Northwell Health Hospitals and ambulatory pharmacies located in Manhasset and New Hyde Park.
Upon successful completion of the program and passing the New York State Pharmacy Technician Certificate Board (PTCE), you can apply to any of the open requisitions for a full-time, part-time, or permanent role as a pharmacy technician working at Northwell Health. Comply to a 1-year work commitment to stay at Northwell Health.
What to Expect:
- Apply and complete the skills assessment.
- Interview, if you meet the requirements.
- Online training (130 hours).
- Paid, in-person, on-site training consists of:
- Simulations (approximately 66 hours)
- Experiential on-site training (224 hours)
- Pass the PTCE.
Eligibility Requirements and Program Commitments:
This is a paid program for those who:
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Pass background and drug screening.
- Comply with immunization requirements.
- Have an English language and math proficiency sufficient to fulfill the pharmacy technician job responsibilities requirements, demonstrated by passing the reading comprehension and math assessment in three or fewer attempts. A minimum score of 70% is required for each assessment.
- Have access to a computer and the internet is a must with capabilities to view and hear video demonstrations.
- Are available for on-site simulations and experiential hours located in Nassau County (Manhasset and New Hyde Park area).
- Have successfully complete the online, on-site training and pass the New York State Technician Certificate Exam (PTCE), obtain Registration Pharmacy Technician licensure from the New York State Office of the Professions.
